Inspiredu. Changing lives through technology and education.
Over the last few years, we’ve been bringing families together for fun days of learning and providing the essential tech tools and support needed for a strong home learning environment.
Through a collaborative community approach, we’ve expanded our digital literacy program to reach both adults and youth, and we’ve enhanced our support for the STEM career pipeline year-round.
Inspiredu inspires our communities' digital champions as we strive to amplify digital inclusions and promote educational equity for all learners around metro Atlanta and throughout the state of Georgia.
The Gaps We Fill
The pandemic has exacerbated existing digital divides related to age, disability, gender, geography and socioeconomic status. With many essential services pushed online, there is a real and present danger that those without broadband Internet access could be left ever further behind.
Hayden Light has been volunteering with Inspiredu for almost a full year now. He describes his time with Inspiredu in glowing words.
“I had originally heard of Inspiredu from a coworker of mine who told me about one of the upcoming technology drives. I decided to take some time to volunteer on a Friday after work, and instantly fell in love with the sense of community.
Being a member of the board is such a privilege. I have volunteered with Inpiredu for a few years now and taking that to the next level of actively sharing the message with my friends and community is great ! Altruistically it is great to give back and personally it fulfills a part of who I am and what makes me tick. There is so much opportunity in the world and children and families need access to it. By working with Inspiredu, We can make sure everyone can thrive.
We held a special Martin Luther King, Jr. volunteer day this month, where we opened up our Lift Zone for service work by Pebble Tossers, a youth development nonprofit with a mission to empower and equip youth to lead through service.
Inspiredu was proud and humbled to accept a proclamation from Fulton County declaring January 10, 2024, as Digital Equity Day. Digital equity means that every person within a community has the necessary technology resources to participate in society, democracy, and the economy.
As we step into 2024, our commitment to environmental responsibility remains unwavering. Inspiredu encourages both corporations and individuals to join us in the mission to repurpose technology devices and divert e-waste from local landfills, curbing potential CO2 emissions.
Leap to Shine began working with Inspiredu this year, and they contributed both as donors and as volunteers. Leap to Shine is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide quality education to underserved children using best-in-class digital technology.
Our longtime supporter Vibha presented us with a check donation this year for our Learning Spark Initiative to help with funding for our digital literacy efforts.
We completed our last workshop of the year in Barrow County with Easter Seals and Comcast at the Wimberly Center for Community Development in Winder, Georgia. The services of Easter Seals North Georgia are designed to support the academic, mental, physical, and social-emotional growth of Georgia’s children, no matter their ability, income, background, or circumstance.
I'm excited to be part of the effort led by the Inspiredu staff, volunteers, and board members to create a more equitable digital future for Georgia families and communities.
Inspiredu joins commissioner Dana Barrett in her Connecting the Dots for Digital Equity initiative along with Comcast to serve Fulton County libraries with workshops and device distribution for families in Fulton County in 2024. The Connect the Dots workshops, powered by Inspiredu, Comcast, and the Fulton County Library System, provide a laptop, software, and training to get participants started with their learning and help them get connected to free or low cost internet
