Inspiredu. Changing lives through technology and education.
Since 2007, we’ve been bringing families together for fun days of learning and providing the essential tech tools and support needed for a strong home learning environment.
Through a collaborative community approach, we’ve expanded our digital literacy program to reach both adults and youth, and we’ve enhanced our support for the STEM career pipeline year-round.
Inspiredu inspires our communities' digital champions as we strive to amplify digital inclusions and promote educational equity for all learners around metro Atlanta and throughout the state of Georgia.
The Gaps We Fill
The pandemic has exacerbated existing digital divides related to age, disability, gender, geography and socioeconomic status. With many essential services pushed online, there is a real and present danger that those without broadband Internet access could be left ever further behind.
Did you know that we accept more than just laptops? Yep! We accept computer bags, gently used backpacks, printers, keyboards, webcams, mice, mousepads, tablets, cleaning supplies, sticker scrapers, goo gone, terry cloths, gloves, and paper. These are also all very important essentials for our refurbishing operations.
Now, more than ever, the disparity between those with access to technology devices, internet, and training and those without this access is magnified in education, economics, healthcare, and more.
This year we’ve continued to support DekalbCountySchools Region 6’s goal to get 100% of the parents using the Campus Parent App.
I believe in the power of education and continuous learning and I’ve seen firsthand how the Inspiredu workshops transform students and parents in just a few hours.
At our Spark Bootcamp afterschool program we teamed up with STEAMsport, Inc to implement a virtual I.T. Certification Fundamentals course for high school students. This course educated them on pathways to obtain careers in IT and specifically focused on the base knowledge they need to take the Comp Tia A+ certification course.
I am most excited about the strength of the community that Inspiredu has been able to build. I am grateful for the staff, donors, and my fellow board members as we continue to evolve the capabilities and reach of Inspiredu. I look forward to the development of the Volunteer Training Center (VTC) which will expand the ability of Inspiredu to deliver a multigenerational learning model to better serve families.
Many students like Min re, have the power to create masterpieces but without technological resources it is difficult for students to achieve success.
Since the beginning of the school year, our program staff has supported 4th-7th grade after-school students to help them with their reading skills. Our team and virtual reading guides leveraged the technology platform, BookNook, to provide small group and 1:1 reading support through digital books, lessons, and games. Additionally, we assessed students' reading levels and then tracked their progress as they attended regular weekly reading sessions.
As corporate companies we have a social responsibility to give back and lend a helping hand! We pride ourselves in being key connectors to our community, and partnering with some of the best companies to provide digital equity in Atlanta
Together, we can close the Digital Divide.
I'm most excited about the leadership team at Inspiredu. Being on the board the last few years, I've seen how this team has continued to have a significant impact on the community. The new members they bring on, immediately make the team better.
