PowerMyLearning Greater Atlanta is Now Inspiredu

Non-profit devoted to addressing the digital divide spins off from parent to support digital learning and technology access for Georgia students

ATLANTA, July 1 — PowerMyLearning Greater Atlanta, the local chapter of the national non-profit PowerMyLearning, announced today the formation of a new, independent 501c3 non-profit organization called Inspiredu.

Like its former parent organization, Inspiredu seeks to meet the needs of children and families in Georgia’s under resourced communities by providing them with the technology, support, and training they need to be competitive in pursuit of education and work preparedness.

“Since its inception in 2007, PowerMyLearning in Atlanta has built a tremendous team of dedicated staff, created an outstanding board, elevated the organization’s visibility, and cultivated an outstanding regional base of supporters,” explained PowerMyLearning’s founder, Elizabeth Stock. “I want to thank the Atlanta team for all of their contributions and wish them great success on this exciting new chapter.”

All members of PowerMyLearning Greater Atlanta team, including executive staff, team members and board of directors, will transition to Inspiredu.   The organization’s headquarters will remain in Atlanta and the office location is unchanged.   In addition, Inspiredu continues to accept unused technology donations and monetary support.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has expedited the urgency of our work, particularly for children in marginalized communities,” said Inspiredu CEO Richard Hicks. “Inspiredu aims to serve the community through its Learning Spark Initiative which includes technology-based services for youth and adult learners, family workshops, and STEM education.”

Added Hicks, “We hope that the aid we provide to our families will make an impact that lasts well beyond the moment a child receives a laptop or training. We’ve seen first-hand it be a catalyst that can literally alter the course of that child’s life. Access to technology should not be limited to students at well-funded schools. The work we do helps weaken the system that keeps these kids from achieving their full potential.”
