Your Laptop Home Learning Center is valuable and should be treated as such!
Here is a quick list of ways you can increase the lifespan of your technology device. Technology can be unpredictable, but these are variables you CAN control to keep your device up and running.
#1 Check the Hardware - No wifi, no power, no volume...no problem! Many issues can be solved by checking the physical hardware of the device. Before thinking your laptop is dead, make sure the charger is connected!
#2 Do Not Snack While Using Your Device - Those tasty snacks can wait until after you finish your computer work. Greasy food, sticky candy, and liquids can easily damage your device.
#3 Do Not Share Passwords - Shhhhh! Passwords should be kept safe and secret. Share them with only a family member for safekeeping if you must.
#4 Do Not Download Randomly - Computer viruses are everywhere! Visit safe websites, do not download random programs, verify with an adult and never give personal information over the internet to a stranger. Viruses can make your device unusable.
#5 Do Not Use The Device as a Toy - Your laptop should not be thrown, slammed, stepped on, or mishandled. Your laptop is meant to be used as an educational tool. Take excellent care of it! If you break your device InspirEDU cannot guarantee you a new one.
#6 Do Not Overcharge Your Device - Charging your laptop for a long period of time might seem helpful, but it is actually harmful for your device. Leaving your laptop plugged in after the battery icon has reached 100% can lead to overcharging which will damage your battery. Make sure to unplug once the battery is full. Make this a habit, your battery will thank you later!
#7 Power Off Completely - Once you have finished using your laptop, make sure you power off properly by clicking "Shut Down" on the Windows Menu. Close out extra tabs, programs, and applications. Shutdown and give your laptop a good rest!
#8 Keep Your Device Updated - Update, update, update! Occasionally, you will see a message pop up on your device asking you to update your computer's software. These free updates will keep your device running smoothly. To ensure an update is legitimate, make sure the update is coming directly from Windows Update or the maker of your device such as Apple, Lenovo, HP, etc.
