Capital Campaign Dinner 2022

What a captivating night as we kicked off our capital campaign. This capital campaign effort is to build a commitment to equity for our participants and volunteers. As we plan to RENOVATE INNOVATE AND EDUCATE, the Inspiredu Volunteer and Training Center will provide us with the opportunity to further enhance our home and create a digital hub that links opportunities to reality.

In my current job, I serve as a CIO and Executive Counselor providing coaching, mentoring, and guidance to IT executives across the US. My focus is on helping the IT executive to improve the maturity of their IT organizations by using playbooks to accelerate change and enhance the capabilities of the IT Executive through professional development.

Breaking Generational Barriers

One of our participants has made a tremendous impact on our organization after taking one of our workshops at United Way’s Learning Spaces. Yesenia Lopez, who recently spoke at our capital campaign, has excelled in her educational journey by taking classes at Atlanta Technical College to become a radiology technician.

(e)Mazing Race 2022

Each year, we host this full-day team-building event for our corporate sponsors. Our goal for this event is not only to help their staff better understand the communities we serve but also to provide opportunities for them to give back to their neighbors. The impact it has had on our communities on both sides of the digital divide has been unmatched. We hope that race participants will gain a deeper understanding of what they can do as employees of these companies and individuals in their communities to support digital inclusion efforts.

Changing Careers through Learning Spaces

Nafeesah currently works in security and plans to use the skills from learning spaces to change careers. Nafeesa wants to explore careers to combine her passion for healthcare and IT. She states “The new thing is to move into tech.” She is excited for the opportunity to work in technology as a peer to those who learned through a university system because of the learning spaces courses.

I was fortunate to be invited to the 2015 Inspire Gala where a mother talked about the impact of Inspiredu’s (PowerMyLearning at the time) family learning workshop in their lives. It was a moving testimonial. I called my wife on the way home and told her I wanted to be involved with the organization.
