Tech Volunteer Highlight

Since we started our tech team support initiative 4 months ago, we’ve had quite a few volunteers. Usually, tech support volunteers help with imaging and recovery efforts. Additionally, there are times when tech volunteers help with inventory needs like counting computers and miscellaneous technology.  We have one volunteer who has been coming back to help us week after week to help with those items, and we wanted to take the time to highlight him. Michael Williamson has shown us that he is knowledgeable about applying his skillsets to troubleshoot technology support problems.

Mike obtained a diploma from Gwinnett Tech. He is in a transition period to learn more about tech and hopes to get into the tech business. He is happy to be volunteering at Inspiredu. He says, “The hard part is getting familiar with different laptops and dissembling them and identifying what the issue can be and figuring out possible solutions for them.”

Mike is a certified CompTIA A+ tech professional, and he appreciates the opportunity and gives himself “a pat on the back” for contributing to the community. He is hoping to get a foundation going and eventually get into cyber security.  For anyone who is interested in volunteering with the tech team, he says, “Be open to learning with Eddie and Marcus [our tech team leads], and ask them plenty of questions.”
